Heidi, Barney and Pippa

Pippa was born on the 9th July 1996. Her mate Barney was born on 13th January 1997 and they had a kit Heidi on 28th February 1998.

We got Pippa & Barney from a family friend who had bred chins for several years. Unfortunately we lost Heidi in 2000 and Barney in 2004.

Pippa is nearly twelve years old and is as lively & cheeky as ever. Her favourite pastimes are wallpaper stripping & skirting board chewing! We hope to have her for many more years to come.

We give Pippa a free run in the bedroom every night at 9 till 10. She loves it, her antics are a joy to watch. We put her cage down on the floor so she can jump in and out as she pleases. She loves to have a cube of apple, a grape, a raisin, sunflower seed, or a piece of banana & apple Vita Verde for titbits. She runs about the room, bounces and jumps on the furniture and comes and sits on our knee or shoulders. Once she chewed her way into the bottom of the bed and we had to take it to bits to get her out again!

I don't think we'll ever get used to the speed she goes at or the scary antics in her cage. She knows when her hour is up and jumps back in and often lies flat out for a wee while. Then she has her pellets, hay & cuttlefish. She has a wooden block to chew on and also a Rodarope which she sometimes pulls into her box like a comfort blanket! She is really quite amazing for her age and doesn't show any sign of slowing down.
